Broccoli Tikki or Cutlet Recipe – It is a perfect starter or snack, These Tikkis are made out of some boiled potatoes and spices. This one is guilt-free, I pan-fried those instead of deep-frying. Still, it tastes so good.

This cutlet is just like any other cutlet, I used besan and brown bread crumbs for binding purpose. You can also use poha or plain flour for binding. Make sure the potatoes are boiled right, you can mash it with fork or masher and mix properly with the other ingredients. Overcooked potatoes might turn into mushy. It will be sticky and difficult to bind, to avoid that, boil the potatoes right and cool them before mashing.

If the broccoli florets are blanched for a long time, it can alter the taste. So do not leave it for a long time. Before adding it to the blender, drain the water completely. Make it as a coarse paste, so that you can feel the slight crunchiness in the Tikki.

Ingredients

  • 1 Broccoli Small flower
  • 1 Onion medium sized
  • 1 to 2 Green Chilies
  • 1 Boiled Potato
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 to 2 tbsp Besan or Chickpea flour
  • 1/4 cup Bread Crumbs as much as needed
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • Oil to pan fry
  • Salt required level
  • Coriander leaves few

Instructions

  • Get all the ingredients ready. Clean the broccoli flower.
  • Once the florets are ready. Blanch them, bring water to boil, add a little bit of salt. Once it starts boiling with bubbles. Turn off the heat. Add those florets carefully. Let it cook for 2 to 3 mins. After that, remove it, add it to ice-cold water.
  • After a min, drain the water.
  • Now add those to the blender, make it as a coarse paste.
  • Add onions and green chilies into that.
  • Now chop the boiled potato and coriander leaves, add it to the mix.
  • Add salt, ginger garlic paste, turmeric, chili, garam masala into it.
  • Add Besan and Bread Crumbs also.
  • Mix everything well. Just brush little of oil finally.
  • I used a cutter to shape the Tikki, You can just make any shape you like.
  • I prefer to pan-fry it. You can also deep fry it. If you are pan-frying, just brush some oil. place the Tikkis on the pan. Cover and cook it for a min.
  • Just flip the Tikkis and cook both sides well.
  • Yummy Tikkis are ready to serve. Serve with mint chutney or any sauce.

  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Salt – required level
  • Oil – to pan-fry
  • Coriander leaves – few
  • Besan – 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Bread Crumbs – 1/4 cup or more (until it binds well)

Process:

Get all the ingredients ready. Clean the broccoli flower.

Add Besan and Bread Crumbs also.
