Cornflakes mixture | chivda recipe – This is such a simple recipe. I just sauteed some nuts and readymade cereal cornflakes in ghee and mixed with some regular spices and salt. This could be a sweet and spicy snack. You can prepare and keep this snack for evening munching time or for special occasions like Diwali. Very easy to make, you can make this within 30 mins. Compared to store-bought, you can consider this as healthy as well.
I would like to roast all the nuts separately and finally mix with cornflakes. Some people roast a few nuts together and mix. I believe the nuts are roasted evenly well when you do it separately. So it’s totally up to you. Check below for detailed step by step recipe with pictures.

Cornflakes mixture | chivda recipe
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Ghee/Oil
- 3 cup Cornflakes
- 1/4 cup Peanuts
- 1/4 cup Roasted Gram dal
- 1/4 cup Almonds/Badam
- 1/4 cup Cashew nuts
- 2 tbsp Raisins
- few Curry leaves
- Salt required level
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida powder optional
- 1 tsp Sugar optional
Instructions
- Get all the ingredients ready, Take a pan, add 1/2 tsp of ghee in it.
- Once it is heated, first fry the peanuts. Keep frying until it gets roasted well.
- Once the peanuts are done, now once again add 1/4 tsp ghee in it. Add roasted gram dal or pottu kadalai (in Tamil). Roast for a few mins.
- Next, add 1/2 tsp of ghee again, roast almonds/badam.
- Next add 1/2 tsp of ghee again, roast cashew nuts.
- Next, add 1/2 tsp of ghee again, add raisins and roast well. Once everything is done. Keep it aside.
- Now, take a big Kadai, add 1 tsp of ghee in it. Add the cornflakes and saute for a few mins.
- Now add all the fried nuts and curry leaves into the cornflakes. Give a good mix, then add salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, and asafoetida powder. Mix everything well. If you feel the mixture is very dry, add a little bit of ghee/oil. Mix it.
- Once everything blends well. Cool it off for some time and store it in an airtight container. Enjoy it with your hot tea or coffee.
