Roasted Makhana – Makhana is roasted in ghee and spices. Makhana is known by many names. Lotus seeds, Fox nut, Phool makhana, etc.,

You can easily find these in the grocery stores. Few people consume this during fasting time. But makhana can be a great snack to munch something in the evening tea time. It’ perfect for weight watchers. Makhana is loaded with nutritional facts. They are low in cholesterol, saturated fat, and sodium and high in potassium, magnesium, protein, and phosphorus. Astringent properties in Makhana is helpful for kidney-related issues. It is low in the Glycemic Index, so it helps you to remain energetic for a long time. It beats Insomnia and helps Diabetes people.

Though there is much goodness in this seed, there are some drawbacks as well. Excessive consumption of Makhana may lead to constipation and bloating. So in case you are facing such issues, you should consult your physician before consuming it again.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 tbsp Oil / Ghee
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt required level

Instructions

  • Heat ghee or oil in a pan or Kadai. Add the Makhana.
  • Roast for about 10 to 15 mins on a low medium flame until it becomes crispy and crunchy.
  • Now add the spices like turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt. Give a good mix and switch off the flame.
  • Give a good mix and serve it. You can also store it in an airtight container.
