Marinated Paneer Gravy Recipe – Paneer is marinated in ground spices and fresh curd or yogurt.

I call this recipe as Marinated Paneer Gravy, since I marinate the paneer in fresh ground spice masala and curd before cooking. You can call it as Kadai Paneer Gravy as well. It’s up to you. 🙂 This gravy would give you a slight spicy and tangy taste.
To prepare the fresh spice masala. I have taken red chili, garlic cloves, black pepper, cumin seeds, a bit of tamarind, coriander seeds, fennel seeds and Fenugreek seeds. If you don’t want very spicy then reduce the mount of red chili. It goes well with rotis, parathas and steamed rice varieties like fried rice.

Ingredients:
- Paneer – 200 gms
- Onion – 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
- Tomato – 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
- Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tbsp. (optional)
- Salt – required level
- Butter – 1 inch (3 pieces).
- Curry leaves – few
To Marinate Paneer:

- Garlic Cloves – 4 to 5
- Cumin Seeds – 1 tbsp.
- Fennel Seeds – 1 tbsp.
- Coriander Seeds – 1 tbsp.
- Black Pepper – 1 tbsp.
- Tamarind – a bit
- Fenugreek Seeds – 1 tbsp.
- Oil – 1 tbsp.
- Curd – 2 tbsp.
Process:
- Get all the ingredients ready.
- Add Oil in a wide pan.
- Once the oil gets heated, add all the seeds and red chili. Saute well for few mins.
- Add Garlic cloves and tamarind piece. Saute again for few more mins until everything gets roasted well.
- Once it is roasted. Let it cool down for a few mins. Grind everything in mixture and make a paste out of it.
- Now add the paneer cubes to the paste and mix well.
- Now add the curd and mix everything well.
- Marinate this mixture for 20 mins.
- Now take a Kadai or wide pan, add butter into it.
- Once the butter starts melting, add onions and curry leaves into that. Saute well.
- Once the onion is cooked, add tomato into that, then saute well for few mins and then add ginger garlic paste in to that. Ginger garlic paste is optional, Since we already added garlic while preparing the masala. But I like them, so added here.
- Once everything starts blending, add salt into that and mix everything well.
- Once the tomato gets cooked well. Add marinated paneer into that.
- Add a 1/2 cup of water also into that if you don’t want a very thick gravy. Mix everything well and close the Kadai.
- Cook in a medium flame for 5 to 10 mins and check the consistency. When the gravy is ready. Transfer into a container and serve hot. Yummy and Spicy Kadai Paneer gravy is ready to be served.
