Green Peas Paratha Recipe

Green peas are so versatile, it can be combined with any other vegetable for curries, stir fries and parathas. Here I used only green peas to make this paratha. It’s perfect for breakfast and lunch box as well. In this recipe I steamed the Green peas and fried with onions and other spices. I didn’t blend Green peas, since I wanted to feel the crunchiness. I just fried and used it directly. You can make this paratha with frozen green peas as well. But it’s best to use fresh green peas.

Ingredients:

  • Whole wheat flour – 2 cups
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – required level
  • Water – to prepare smooth dough
  • Green peas – 1 cup
  • Onion – one medium sized (finely chopped)
  • Green chilies – 1 to 2 (finely chopped)
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Chili powder – 1 tsp (adjust according to your taste)
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Ghee/Oil – to roast paratha

Process:

  1. Get all the ingredients ready. First prepare the smooth dough.
  2. Now wash the green peas well. I prefer to steam instead of boiling. Steam the green peas for a few minutes in Electric cooker using a steamer or you can use the pressure cooker as well. Once it is done, transfer it to a bowl and keep it aside.
  3. Heat the pan and add oil into that, once it is heated, add chopped onions and green chilies.
  4. Saute well for a few minutes, then add the green peas as well.
  5. After a few minutes, add salt, turmeric, chili powder, cumin powder and coriander powder.
  6. Mix everything well and cook for a few mins.
  7. Once Green peas are done, transfer to a bowl and let it cool down.
  8. First, make a small ball out of the dough, press it, make a bread and spread the stuffing.
  9. Make another bread and cover the stuffing.
  10. Then, Press little more to get the perfect shape.
  11. Once the stuffed wheat bread is ready, heat the pan, toss the bread on that pan. Flip and cook on both sides.
  12. Add a little bit of ghee or oil on the bread while roasting.
  13. Once it is cooked properly on both sides, transfer to a plate and serve with raita or chutney.
  14. Yummy and hot Green Peas Paratha is ready to serve.
