Paneer is the most famous ingredient, when it comes to Indian starters. I can never say no to paneer. Recently I started making my own paneer a well. The real happiness in cooking comes when you are so satisfied with over all cooking (ingredients, process, quality and taste). This recipe requires crumbled paneer, so you can either make the paneer at home or you can use store bought as well. I will post soon about how to make paneer at home. Now let’s go to this yummy low fat version recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Paneer | Cottage Cheese – 100 gms (crumbled)
  • Potato – 1 to 2 medium size (boiled and mashed)
  • Onion – 1 medium size (finely chopped)
  • Curry | Coriander leaves – few (finely chopped)
  • Corn flour – 1 tbsp
  • Gram flour – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – required level
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Chili powder – 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Oil – to grease the moulds.

Process:

  1. Get all the ingredients ready. Take the crumbled paneer in a mixing bowl.
  2. Now add the mashed potatoes, chopped onions and curry leaves into the mixing bowl.
  3. Now add corn flour, gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, pepper powder and cumin powder.
  4. Mix everything well. If it is too sticky, adjust a little bit with dry flours. Do not make it too dry.
  5. Now grease your palm with oil, make a small balls out of the mixture.
  6. I have used Kuzhi paniyaram moulds to fry these balls. Since I do not want to deep fry. Grease the moulds and then place the balls.
  7. Lower the heat, cook for few mins, you can also close the pan with lid while cooking. When the base is fried, jut flip and cook on the other side as well. Repeat the process for the remaining balls.
  8. Serve this yummy paneer and potato balls with ketchup or green chutney for snack or starters.

Step by step process with picture representation:

Get all the ingredients ready. Take the crumbled paneer in a mixing bowl.

Now add the mashed potatoes, chopped onions and curry leaves into the mixing bowl.

Now add corn flour, gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, pepper powder and cumin powder.

Mix everything well. If it is too sticky, adjust a little bit with dry flours. Do not make it too dry.

Now grease your palm with oil, make a small balls out of the mixture.
