Apple Jalebi | Apple Fritters Recipe

This recipe is an inspiration from one of my friends come sister’s recipe. She prepared this Apple Jalebi and sent me the pictures. It was looking so yummy and I wanted to try soon, To my surprise it came out well in the first time itself. All you need for this recipe is some apples, yeast, corn flour, all purpose flour (Maida) & oil or ghee. At my home, always there will be one or two apples which are left over, nobody eats the last one or two apples from the set. This condition is not only for apple, it goes for other fruits as well. Sometimes I make juice or fruit custard out of it, this time it has become Jalebi 😉  Check below for step by step pic illustration.

Apple Jalebi | Apple Fritters – Indian Dessert

Ingredients for Jalebi:

  • Apple – 1 (6 to 7 slices)
  • Corn Flour – 1 tsp
  • All purpose flour / Maida – 1/2 cup
  • Dry yeast – 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Oil – to deep fry
  • Water – 1/4 cup approx. (as needed to make smooth batter)
  • Warm water – 1/2 cup approx. (to activate yeast)
  • Pistachios and Saffron – to garnish the Jalebi

For Sugar Syrup:

  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  • Rose Essence – 1/2 tsp

Description:

  1. Get the ingredients ready. First, take warm water in a cup, dissolve 1/4 tsp of sugar and yeast. Keep aside for 10 – 15 mins, to get the yeast activated.
  2. In a mixing bowl, Take Maida, corn flour, sugar and salt. Mix well.
  3. Once the yeast is activated, Add that liquid & ghee to the mixing bowl. Mix everything well.
  4. If needed, add little water to make a smooth batter. Consistency of the batter should not be too thick or thin.
  5. Now Cover the batter and keep it aside for 1 hour.
  6. After 1 hour, mix the batter well.
  7. Meanwhile, prepare the sugar syrup, Take Sugar and water in a pan, boil in a medium low heat, Once the sugar solution starts to get thicken, add cardamom powder, lemon juice and essence.
  8. Stir well until the one-thread consistency of the sugar syrup comes. lemon juice will prevent the sugar solution from crystallizing. Essence and Cardamom powder is added for flavor.
  9. Now slice the apples and remove the seeds carefully. The slices should not be too thick or thin.
  10. Now add oil in a pan for deep frying the jalebi in a low medium heat. Once the oil is heated, Dip the apple slice in the batter fully and drop it in the oil.
  11. Initially it will start spluttering, be careful while dropping in oil.
  12. Turn and fry the apple, until both sides become gold color.
  13. Once it is fried. Drop the jalebi in sugar syrup. Turn both sides, leave it for a min, then take out and rest on a cooling rack to drain the excess syrup.
  14. Repeat the same process for all Jalebi. Once it is done.
  15. Garnish with pistachios and Saffron. Apple Jalebi is ready to serve.

Step by step process with picture representation:
