Stuffed Poori (Potato and Peas Stuffing) Recipe

We usually make Poori and Side dish as Potato gravy, But this time I tried to add that potato as stuffing for poori. To my surprise it was very yummy and this recipe can be made for evening snack, the kids would definitely enjoy this. Here I added potato and peas, as stuffing, you can add your own favorite cooked vegetables. Let’s get to the step by step description.

Ingredients to prepare Stuffing:

  • Potatoes – 1 to 2 medium size (chopped)
  • Green peas – 1/2 cup
  • Mustard & Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Onion – 1 medium size (chopped)
  • Green chilies – 1 to 2 (optional)
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Salt – required level
  • Chili and Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

For Dough:

  • Whole Wheat Flour / Atta – 1 cup
  • Warm Water – required level (to prepare smooth dough)
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 1 tbsp

Description:

  1. First get the ingredients ready. Peel and chop the potatoes. Boil the potatoes and peas for 15 to 20 mins on medium heat.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the dough for poori.
  3. Once the potatoes and peas are boiled. Drain the water and keep the boiled vegetable aside.
  4. Now take a pan, add oil into that, once the oil is heated, add mustard and cumin seeds into that.
  5. After a few seconds, add chopped onions, green chilies and curry leaves. saute until the onion color changes.
  6. Now add boiled potatoes and green peas into that, saute everything well.
  7. Then add salt, turmeric and chili powder, mix everything well.
  8. Once it is done, turn off the burner, let the stuffing gets cool down.
  9. Now add to the blender, just give one round to mash everything. Use can also hand crush the cooked vegetables.
  10. Once the stuffing is ready, Keep it aside.
  11. Take a small lemon size piece of dough, roll it into a small circle. (The thick rolled dough is preferred, so that stuffing won’t come out.)
  12. Place the crushed potatoes and peas in the middle of the rolled dough.
  13. Cover and make it like a small ball.
  14. Press or roll it little bit to make it flat.
  15. Now deep fry in the oil.
  16. Once it is fried, place it on the paper towel, to drain the excess oil.
  17. Now Stuffed poori is ready to serve. Serve with tomato sauce or ketchup.

Step by step process with picture representation:
