Parshwanath Sushil Dham – Jain Temple, Bangalore
Whenever I pass Hosur road in Bangalore, I see this beautiful Jain temple and I always wanted to go inside. I have never been inside to any Jain temple. I was curious and I wanted to see. Finally, this weekend, I decided to stop by there. I went there with my husband. From Electronic City it’s around 15 mins travel. The shrine is known as “Parshwanath Sushil Dham“. I did a bit of search about this place before going.
This Shrine was built by a Rajasthan family, The main deity here is Jain “Tirthankar Shankeshwar Parshwanath“. The temple also has Dadavadi of Jain saint “Sushil Suriji” and idols of Jain deities – “Bhomiyaji Maharaj, Ghantakarna Mahaveer, Padmavati mata, Nakoda Bheruji” etc.,
Parshwanath was the 23rd Jain Tirthankara. Born as a prince in Varanasi, he renounced worldly pleasures at the age of 30 to become a monk. He is said to have achieved moksa at the age of one hundred. Tirthankaras are believed to be free of rebirth. Shankheshwar is an important Jain Tirtha (place of pilgrimage), situated in the Patan district of Gujarat.
When I went inside, I was awe-struck with the ambiance, peacefulness, cleanliness and the amazing modern architecture. The Shrine is built in white marble, Every carving is absolutely wonderful and you just can’t take your eyes out of them. I was thinking India is blessed with such wonderful people who can build a beautiful modern architecture like this. The main entrance leads to the main deity Parshwanath and other deities. The place is well maintained with lush greenery, gardens, trees and plants. They also have a play area for kids. They do have a Bhojanshala serving vegetarian meals, the timing is around 12.30 PM to 2.00 PM, the price is very cheap. They have a plenty of space for parking.
We had such a great time there, The greenery and serenity is a like a heaven for people who live in a city. Here are some pics,
It’s a must visit place in Bangalore. Please do visit when you have some time.
Happy Travelling 🙂
