Toor Dal Paratha | Lentil (Split Pigeon Peas) stuffed Paratha Recipe

This paratha is power pack protein one. I love parathas, I am currently trying all possible varieties of paratha. In that Toor Dal Paratha is one. I have added a tbsp of ajwain in this, the aroma of ajwain and dal is splendid. I absolutely loved it. Try this paratha for breakfast or lunch. Definitely you will love it. Raita or pickle would go as a side dish for this paratha. I will post the other paratha recipe soon. Check below for step by step pic illustration.

Toor Dal Paratha | Lentil (Split Pigeon peas) Stuffed Paratha

Ingredients:

  • Whole Wheat Flour – 2 cups
  • Water – 1 cup (to prepare dough)
  • Oil – 2 tbsp (to prepare dough)
  • Salt – required level
  • Toor dal – 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric, Chili and Amchur powder – 1 tsp
  • Ajwain – 1 tbsp
  • Oil or ghee – to prepare paratha.

Descriptions:

  1. First soak the toor dal for 1 hr 30 mins.
  2. Prepare the dough and keep it aside.
  3. After soaking, Boil the toor dal for 5 to 10 mins on low medium heat
  4. After that, drain the water and rest the dal for 15 to 20 mins.
  5. Once the water is completely drained, Grind the dal coarsely.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a bowl.
  7. Now add salt, turmeric, chili and amchur powder and also ajwain in that.
  8. Mix everything well. Now make some lemon size ball with that dough.
  9. Dust some dry flour, Press the dough and make a small circle, place the mixed dal in the center of the rolled dough.
  10. Now close the corners and make a stuffed ball.
  11. Roll it again and make a big circle. Need to be careful, Stuffing might come out. Use dry flour if needed.
  12. Now heat the pan, place the paratha, cook both sides, in between apply oil or ghee on both sides of paratha.
  13. Once it is done, Transfer to a plate and serve with raita or pickle.

Step by step process with picture representation:
