Dahi & Paneer Cutlet | Hung Yogurt & Cottage Cheese Fritters

Dahi (Hung Curd) is the main ingredient in this recipe. There are different varieties of vegetable cutlets available. This is quite different in taste when compared to all. This recipe could be used as a starter or an appetizer or a snack. It tastes great with tomato ketchup.Β If you would like to serve for today, then you need to start the preparation one day before. Don’t get scared, the process is very easy πŸ™‚


  1. Fresh Curd – 2 cups
  2. Paneer – 1 cup (grated)
  3. Onion – 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
  4. Green chilies – 2 to 3 (finely chopped)
  5. Coriander leaves – for garnishing
  6. Salt – required level
  7. Bread crumbs – 1 cup
  8. Oil – for frying
  9. Corn flour – 2 tbsp
  10. Red chili powder – 1 tbsp
  11. Garam Masala – 1 tbsp


Get the ingredients ready. To make these fritters, the process needs to be started one day before.

Take a clean white cotton material or cloth, place it into the bowl. Pour the fresh curd into that.

Tie the cloth tightly. So that water from the curd would come out.

Now store that curd in the refrigerator overnight to avoid turning into sour.

Note: Place a bowl below that curd in refrigerator, since it might leave some water.

Next day. First grate the paneer.

Get the curd from the refrigerator, open the cloth and now you can see all the water is drained off completely.

Now add that hung curd to the mixing bowl.

Add paneer also to that.

Now add the chopped onions into that. Mix everything well.

Now add the chopped green chilies also in to that and mix well.

Get the bread crumbs ready. Bread crumbs are used to absorb the moisture from the mixture.

Add those bread crumbs, corn flour, salt, chili powder and garam masala into that mixture and mix everything well.

Knead the dough well. If needed, use 1 tbsp of oil to get the smooth dough.

Note: Do not add water while kneading the dough, since the curd already leaves some moisture.

Now you can make some small balls out of the dough and apply a bit of oil in the palm and flatten it a little bit, otherwise use cutter and make different shapes.

Now deep fry the fritters in hot oil. Keep the flame low or in simmer, since the outer layer turns dark soon and it takes time to cook inside.

Now the yummy paneer and hung curd cutletΒ are ready to be served.
