I like sweets and actually nobody in my family says NO to sweets. My mom prepares different varieties always. One of my favorite sweets is Palkova. Some people call it as Milk Peda or Thiratipal. It has different names based on region. This time I wanted to try this sweet in slightly a different way. I added Cocoa powder in that, to get that chocolaty taste. Believe me it was awesome. This recipe could be prepared in two ways, either from Condensed Milk or from Plain Milk. I used Plain Milk here, If you are using condensed milk, then the ingredient differs slightly. This recipe takes slight a good amount of time in Microwave. It takes around 40 to 50 mins.
- Milk – 1 liter
- Sugar – 1 cup (150 gms)
- Cocoa Powder – 2 tbsp
- Ghee – To grease the bowl (1 to 2 tsp)
Get the ingredients ready. Take a 1 liter of warm milk in a mixing bowl.
Add 1 cup of Sugar into that and whisk well until sugar dissolves completely.
Then add 2 tbsp of cocoa powder into that milk and whisk well.
Now the milk is ready and lets move to the microwave safe bowl. First, lets grease the bowl with ghee.
Pour the milk into the bowl.
Keep it in the microwave for 10 minutes. After that, stir it and once again microwave for another 10 minutes.
The quantity of the milk would have been reduced now. After that microwave for another 10 minutes and stir after each 5 minutes.
After 30 mins of cooking, the consistency would come like the above pic.
Repeat the process for another 10 to 15 mins, Stir often may be after each 3 mins. Then you would get the thick milk like below.
After this, repeat the process for 3 to 5 minutes and stir after each 40 to 50 secs.
Finally, Once it becomes like semi solid consistency, remove it from the microwave. it will get thick when cooled down.
The timing differs from each microwave, For me it took 45 minutes to get this.
Now garnish with some chopped pistachios and enjoy the chocolate flavored milk sweet.
