Memories of Winter ❤️💃😍 in Helsinki, Finland.
As Christmas nears, I remember the time I was in Helsinki, Finland during winter and Christmas holidays. It was an official trip to Helsinki with my friends. I had been twice, but the last time was more special than the first time, Everything was planned well and we (Me and my friends) explored the city in minus degree, we were not used to that extreme weather, we were freezing but that didn’t stop us to enjoy every moment.
We stayed in Salomonkatu, which is near to the Kamppi Shopping complex, it’s in the center of Helsinki. Metro Station, Bus Terminal, Freight depot is there and it’s a commercial building plus residential centre. It’s a six floor shopping centre with a supermarket, shops, clubs and restaurants. We had almost stop by this place everyday evening for something.
The Trams are the main transport in the city centre. We usually buy a monthly pass at Kiosk to travel in that, the same pass can be used in buses and metros as well. Tram tracks share the road space with cars and buses. It’s well organised, digital board is available at all stops and the timing of next arrival trams and places are displayed in that.
The City Center is at the end of the city’s main thoroughfare Mannerheimintie. Both the central railway station and the main bus terminal are in the city center. Shopping streets Aleksi and Espa connect to Senate Square, the historical center of the city.
We had been during the Christmas time, the decorations were awesome and it was very beautiful.
The Market Square is a central square in Helsinki, Finland, and one of the most famous market places and tourist attractions in the city. They sell, traditional market foods, handicrafts and souvenirs. There are also many outdoor cafes at the square.
Helsinki Cathedral is located in the neighborhood of Kruununhaka. It was also known as St Nicholas’ Church until the independence of Finland in 1917. This cathedral is one of Helsinki’s most popular tourist attractions.
Restaurants in Helsinki are filled with everything when when it comes to traditional food. Different kinds of restaurants are there, Theme based places, Nepalese restaurants, authentic finish food places, pizza places and many more.
Skiing was my best experience, I tried for the first time with my Finnish colleagues, we went on a forest for 3 Kms first, It was fun and a bit hard for me since I have never been to Skiing.
Christmas celebrations were gearing up at every place in Helsinki, Near by the church there was a skit about some story related to Santa clause. It was fun watching them saying something in Finnish which we didn’t have any idea.
My work place was near by sea, I got a place where I could see the beautiful view of the sea. It was really fascinating to work in such an awesome environment.
My favorite part, last but not least is chocolates in Helsinki. They just melt in the mouth, I bought in Kg’s, they had many varieties, I liked Fazer’s and Geisha’s the most.
Had loads of fun moments and enjoyed to the fullest. 💃😊❤
