Aloo Paratha is a North Indian special dish, I learned some of their recipes from my friends, unlike other Indian bread stuffing, Aloo paratha is slightly difficult to get in a perfect shape due to the stuffing, I foundย a method to get it perfect now, this method is very simple, beginners can try this out, you would love the end result absolutely. You can make side dish according to your taste, Here I tried boondi raita as side-dish, It was absolutely yummy ๐Ÿ™‚

Ingredients for Stuffing,

  • Boiled and smashed potatoes – 3
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Onion – 1 medium sized finely chopped
  • Green chilies – 2 to 3 (optional)
  • Salt – required level
  • Turmeric and Chili powder – 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – few finely chopped

Ingredients for Wheat Bread,

  • Whole wheat flour – 2 cups ( approx, 5 – 6 paratha’s would come)
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – required level
  • Warm water – 1 cup

Process:

Take Whole wheat flour in a mixing bowl, add salt and oil into that and mix well. Then add the warm water into the mixture and make a dough.

Once the dough is ready, cover it with a cloth or close the vessel, to get the moisture out of the dough.

Now, let’s make the stuffing ready, First boil the potatoes and smash it, then keep it aside.

Add oil into a wide pan or vessel, add chopped onions, green chilies and curry leaves into that, saute everything well, then add salt, turmeric powder and chili powder into that and mix well.

Once it is done and add that mixture into the smashed potatoes and mix everything well.

Now lets make the wheat bread and add stuffing inside that,

First, make a small ball out of the dough, press it, make a thin bread and spread the stuffing on the bread, make another thin bread and cover the stuffing bread. Press little more to get the perfect shape.

Once the stuffed wheat bread is ready, heat the pan, toss the bread on that pan, add a little bit of ghee or oil on the bread while tossing.
