Meal Maker (Soya Chunks) Gravy Recipe
Meal Maker or Soya Chunks Gravy is a perfect side dish for rice, chapati, roti or any variety fried rice. I made this gravy with some veggies also. It’s completely optional.
Soya chunks are made from soy beans, There are different forms, regular chunks, mini chunks and granules. Vegan people should go for this, since it’s an alternative for meat. It contains high protein where as amino acids are the building blocks that create protein. It especially helps women, it reduce the risk of osteoporosis in menopausal women, Soya chunks contain a high amount of carbs. The recommended intake of carbs for the average adult is 130 grams. 100 grams of Soya chunk contain 30 grams of carbs. Soya is high in fiber, which is known to benefit cholesterol levels.

- Carbohydrates – *38 g

- Soya chunks – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
- Tomatoes – 2 medium sized
- Coconut – 2 tbsp (freshly grated)
- Mustard and cumin seeds – 1 tbsp.
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Ginger & Garlic paste – 2 tbsp
- Carrot and Beans – 1 cup (finely chopped)
- salt – required level
- Chili powder, Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp.
- Garam masala – 2 tbsp.
- Water – 1 cup.
- Curry and Coriander leaves – few.
Get the ingredients ready. Grind the tomatoes and grated coconut without water and make a puree.
Add 1 cup of Soya chunks in 2 cups of boiling water, add a bit of salt. Let it boil for 5 to 6 mins. Once it becomes big and soft, drain the hot water and rinse the chunks with cold water for 3 to 4 times and keep it aside.
Now heat the pan. Add oil into that, once it gets heated, add mustard and cumin seeds.
After few seconds, add chopped onions and curry leaves into that. Saute well for few mins.
Add ginger garlic paste also into that, saute well until the raw smell goes away.
Now add other chopped veggies into that. Mix everything well.
After 2 minutes, add Soya chunks also into that, if the chunks are too big, chop into two pieces before adding. Mix everything well and stir it for a few minutes.
Now add the tomato puree into that and mix well.
Once everything blends well, add salt, turmeric powder, chili powder and Garam masala into that mixture. Stir everything well.
After 2 mins, add one cup of water into that and close the pan, leave it to boil for 10 mins in medium flame to get the gravy consistent.
Once it is done, transfer into a bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
Yummy Soya Chunks gravy is ready to serve.
