Egg-less Honey Cake Recipe – Bakery style honey cake without egg.

This cake is one of my favorites in school and college days, Most people in my friends circle used to love chocolate flavor, I was the one, who always wanted this flavor. I was that addicted to this so much. Sadly, nowadays when I go to the cake shop, I don’t find this cake, they have 100’s of other flavors, but not this. Fortunately, some small bakery shops still have this cake to save me. 🙂
That’s how, I really wanted to make this myself at home and treat me with strawberry and honey flavor, whenever I get the cravings. This one is very easy, just like other cakes, with simple extra two steps. Check below for detailed explanation with step by step pictures.
Ingredients for cake:
- Maida / Plain Flour – 2 cups
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
- Baking powder – 1 tsp
- Oil / Butter – 3/4 cup
- Milk – 1 cup
- Lemon juice / Vinegar – 1 tsp
- Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
Ingredients for frosting:
- Sugar – 2 tbsp
- Water – 1/4 cup
- Honey – 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp
- Jam – 1/2 cup (strawberry flavor)
- Coconut – grated (for toppings)
Process:
- Get all the ingredients ready. Take powdered or normal sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Now add the milk.
- Mix until the sugar dissolves completely in milk.
- Now add oil / butter to the mixture, mix well.
- Add Lemon juice/ Vinegar, mix well, then add Vanilla essence also to the mixture and mix well.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven for about 15 mins at 180 degrees.
- Once it is done, Sieve plain flour / maida, baking soda and baking powder.
- Use cut and fold method, mix the batter, without any lumps. If you find the batter is very thick, add 1 tbsp of milk at a time and make a smooth batter. Transfer the batter into a greased pan.
- Place the baking tray in preheated oven, bake until the cake is ready. In my case, I baked for about 15 to 20 mins. Use toothpick to check the cake.
- Once the cake is baked, Keep it to cool down.
- Now prepare the honey syrup. Add sugar and water in a pan, start boiling it.
- Once the sugar syrup turn thick and sticky, add honey to it.
- Mix well and keep it aside to cool down.
- Now using toothpick, make small holes in the cake.
- Pour the honey and spread over the cake, allow the honey to go in the holes and keep aside.
- Now prepare the jam mixture, take 1/2 cup of strawberry jam and 1 tbsp of honey in a pan.
- Mix well, until the jam melts in low flame. Do not over boil.
- Now spread the generous amount of the jam mixture over the cake evenly.
- At the end sprinkle some grated coconut on top of the cake.
- Now cut the cake evenly and enjoy your yummy bakery style honey cake with a cup of tea or coffee.

Hello Malini
What is the pan size used here? What are the measurements for 9×12 ” pan?
My pan size 9×9″. Inner dimension would come around 7 to 7.5 I guess. Since your pan is little bigger than mine. May be you can mke little more batter. For that,
Flour – 2 1/2 cup
Sugar – 1 1/2 cup
Baking sode – 1/2 tsp
Baking powder – 1 1/2 tsp
Oil / Butter – 1 cup
Milk – 1 to 1/2 cup
Rest all same.
